I used Caron Simply Soft yarn in bright yellow, orange, and white.
Size 6 dpns
Stitch marker to indicate beginning of row.
Cast on 48 stitches, distributed evenly on 3 needles, with yellow.
Knit 2, P1 around until piece measures 1 inch.
Knit around for 1 inch.
Change to orange yarn.
Knit around for 2 inches.
Change to white yarn.
Knit around 1 row.
Begin decrease:
Knit10, Knit 2 together around.
Knit 9, Knit 2 together around.
Knit 8, Knit 2 together around.
Knit 7, Knit 2 together around.
Knit 6, Knit 2 together around.
Knit 5, Knit 2 together around.
Knit 4, Knit 2 together around.
Knit 3, Knit 2 together around.
Knit 2, Knit 2 together around.
Knit 1, Knit 2 together around.
Knit 2 together around.
Break off yarn leaving a long enough tail to draw through remaining stitches.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
