Carol's Go-Go Cap and Booties
GO-GO CAP
YARN: Baby weight yarn
NEEDLES: Size 2 knitting needles and markers
Cast on 73 stitches. Knit 1, P1 for 8 rows.
Add 2 stitches to last row. (75 stitches)
Row 1: K2, *P2, YO, K2, Sl 1, Knit 2 tog, PSSO, K2, YO, P2, K4. Repeat from * four more times ending with a K2 instead
of K4.
Row 2 and Row 4: Purl.
Row 3: K2, *P2, K1, YO, K1, Sl 1, K2tog, PSSO, K1, YO, K1, P2, K4. Repeat from * four more times ending with a K2 instead
of K4.
Row 5: K2, *P2, K2, YO, Sl 1, Knit 2 tog, PSSO, YO, K2, P2, K4. Repeat from * four more times ending with a K2 instead
of K4.
Row 6: Purl
Repeat these 6 rows until cap measures four inches. Knit one row decreasing 3 stitches evenly (72)
Make Top:
Row 1: K4, K2 tog across row.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: K3, K2 tog across row.
Row 4: Purl.
Row 5: K2, K2 tog across row.
Row 6: K1, K2 tog across row.
Row 7: K2 tog across row.
Row 8: K2 tog across row.
Finishing: Thread yarn through remaining stitches and gather together. Sew back seam. Weave in yarn ends.
This cap should fit a medium preemie size. Hint: I
place markers before and after each P2 as a reminder that it is time to do the pattern stitch.
GO-GO BOOTIES
YARN: Light weight baby yarn
NEEDLES: Size 2 Needles & 2 stitch markers
GAUGE: 8 stitches to 1 inch
Cast on 35 stitches
Ribbing:
Row 1: K1, P1 across row ending with a K1.
Row 2: P1, K1 across row ending with a P1.
Repeat these rows 4 more times, total of 10 rows of ribbing.
Begin Booties:
Row 1: K12, pm, P2, YO, K2, sl 1, K2tog, psso, K2, YO, P2, pm, K12. You should have 11 stitches between the markers.
Row 2 and all even Rows: Purl across row.
Row 3: K12, move marker (mm), P2, K1, YO, K1, sl 1, K2tog, psso, K1, YO, K1, P2, mm, K12.
Row 5: K12, mm, P2, K2, YO, sl 1, K2tog, psso, k1, YO, K1, P2, mm, K12.
Row 6: Purl across row. Repeat these six rows until pattern measures three inches. (I have 5 pattern repeats.) End with
a purl row.
Begin Foot:
K12 and put on a holder, continue pattern on the net
11 stitches, put last 12 stitches on a holder. Continue working the pattern until it measures 1 1/2 inches. End with
a knit row. (I used 2 2/3 pattern repeats, three complete repeats would probably be fine.) Pick up and knit 8 stitches
along side of piece just knitted. Knit 12 stitches from holder on to same needle, then turn.
Knit 31 stitches to end of center pattern, pick up 8
stitches along the side, then knit 12 stitches from holder. (There should be 51 stitches.)
Continue for 3/4 of an inch in reverse stockinette stitch.
Bind off and sew together. Make 2.
